Aloma's History

Aloma Elementary School was established in 1967 and is located in northeast Orange County . Our attendance zone extends east from the Winter Park Pines area, across Semoran Boulevard , along the south side of University Boulevard to Econlockhatchee Trail. Sixty percent of our students ride busses to and from school. Students living in apartments on Aloma Avenue and Semoran Boulevard are bussed from distances less than two miles due to the hazardous conditions crossing Semoran Boulevard .

Current student population is approximately 480 children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Aloma families represent diverse social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Approximately 56% of our students are on free and reduced lunch and 25% are enrolled in the after school programs including our Extended Day Program.

Aloma annually receives the Florida Department of Education's Golden School Award for the vast contribution of volunteer hours from ADDitions and Partners in Education. The school has also been recognized as a Five Star School as well as a Red Carpet School . We have an active School Advisory Committee (SAC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA). Our campus is alive with PTA activities, ADDitions volunteers, Full Sail tutors and visitors from other community organizations as they take an active role in providing an environment where all students are provided the support they need to reach grade level expectations and the Sunshine State Standards.
